Introduction
The policy guidelines cover the return and exchange of physical books purchased and borrowed from Get Books (SMC-Private) Limited, both online and in-store. Books not purchased from Get Books Company can be “traded in” under company’s “sell your books” programme and valued differeent than books purchased from Get Books Company. Book Condition Policy given below applies to all physical books handeld by Get Books (SMC-Private) Limited.
Satisfaction Return Guarantee
At Get Books (SMC-Private) Limited, we are dedicated to providing premium products and high-end services to our customers. If our product quality or services do not meet your expectations, you may return all books without any conditions. You will receive either a full refund or credit. However it is expected that customers provide prior feedback regarding any deficiencies in the quality of our products or services. We will address such exception individually.
General Policy
All books can be returned or exchanged under clear and straightforward conditions. We believe that no book should be limited to a single reader or ownership; this principle underpins our entire operation. This commitment aligns us with the Circular Economy, ensuring that no book is ever sent to landfill.
In line with modern bookstore standards, we provide easy return and exchange options for all valued customers. We recognize that there may be various reasons for returning a recently purchased book from Get Books or any other store; therefore, this policy aims to offer flexibility and convenience.
Assesment and Valuation
Each of your books will be thoroughly checked by our quality control team of Merchandizing Department once they reach back at our warehouse. The books will be re categorised where applicable in the light of book condition policy.
Depreciation Cost on down Categorization
The return and exchange of books are strictly contingent upon the condition of the books, regardless of the time of return. The depreciation policy applies to all physical books less rare and collectables or items marked “can not be returned”

DISCRETION
Condition of books.
Decision on condition of returned books is the discretion of Get Books (SMC-Private) Limited which can not be challenged.
With regards to memberships. It reserves the right to decline, approve, re-issue, renew a membership and to suspend or terminate it without prior notice

- Contact customer service for inquiries.
- Email your list of books with pictures to info@getbooks.com.pk.
- Once the request is processed, the courier picks up the package from your home.
- Merchandise department assesses the valuation within 3 working days.
- Cash will be sent online or your credit will be topped up. Time frame for processing refunds and credit is 15 bank working days.
- Make a purchase with adjustements and settlements.
- Get Books SellEx App (luanching soon) will facilitate this process further.
Walk-In – Return & Exchange (with proof of purchase from Get Books)
- Present your books at the merchandising desk.
- Valuation by the Merchandising department within 3 working days.
- Receive cash online or a credit top-up. Time frame for processing refunds and credit is 15 bank working days.
- Make a purchase with adjustements and settlements.
- Get Books SelB App (luanching soon) will facilitate this process further.
We regret to inform that, on spot exchange and settlement request will not be entertained as company policy. Merchandizing department will re-value the book after thourogh inspection which requires minimum 3 working days.
Online – Sell Your Books Policy (books not purchased from Get Books)
Whether you need to offload last term’s textbooks, part with a disappointing purchase from some other store, or just clear some room on your bookshelves, we offer great prices for a whole range of original imported and domestic titles.
- Upload clear pictures of ISBN and Price tag pasted on your books with book seller name and send via email or whatsapp . Books from renowned stores are easily accepted.
- Your items are valued and quotation is sent to your e mail with in 24 – 48 hours.
- Package and send the books via free courier collection service.
- Once received and processed, you will receive your payment or credit top up . Time frame for processing refunds and credit is 15 bank working days.

Note : Unfortunately, we have to reject items which do not meet an acceptable condition for future use.Please note, we cannot return items which are rejected, so please consider this before sending your items in through our courier. Rejected items will be marked for charity, free public reading or re-cycle.
Individual Library Membership (ILM) for Borrowing of books
- Follow instructions on website for application and registeration of memberships.
- Book condition policy and depreciation cost applies to ILM customers as well.

Book Condition Guidelines
Physical books at our company will be of following conditions for all commercial purposes including sale, purchase and borrowing. Our return and exchange policy strictly depends on book condition, not the time of return. Merchandising department will ensure quality control in the light of following guidelines.

- Used – Good
- Used – Acceptable
- Used – Unacceptable
Book Conditions Explained
- New: A brand-new copy with cover and original protective wrapping intact. Books with markings of any kind on the cover or pages, books marked as “Bargain” or “Remainder,” or with any other labels attached may not be listed as New condition.
- Like New: Item may have minor cosmetic defects (such as marks, wears, cuts, bends, or crushes) on the cover, spine, pages, or dust cover. Dust cover is intact, and pages are clean and not marred by notes. Item may contain remainder marks on outside edges.
- Very Good: Item may have minor cosmetic defects (such as marks, wears, cuts, bends, or crushes) on the cover, spine, pages, or dust cover. Shrink wrap, dust covers, or boxed set case may be missing. Item may contain remainder marks on outside edges, which should be noted in listing comments
- Good: All pages and cover are intact (including the dust cover, if applicable). Spine may show signs of wear. Pages may include limited notes and highlighting. May include “From the library of” labels. Shrink wrap, dust covers, or boxed set case may be missing.
- Acceptable: All pages and the cover are intact, but shrink wrap, dust covers, or boxed set case may be missing. Pages may include limited notes, highlighting, or minor water damage but the text is readable.
- Unacceptable: Has missing pages and obscured or unreadable text. It has torn pages, ink marks and writings of any sort. We also do not permit the sale of advance reading copies, including uncorrected proofs, of in-print or PDFs or not-yet-published books.
ISBN – International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a registration code you can find inside the dust jacket or on the barcode. If the book was printed before 1970, it might not have an ISBN. In that case, please contact our customer care Service or merchandising department at UAN 03401111299.
Rare/ Collectible To be considered collectible, a book should be unique in a way that could reasonably be assumed to increase the book’s value to a collector:
- First editions and first printings
- Signed, inscribed, or scarce copies
- Advance reading copies and uncorrected proofs of out-of-print books
Rare/ Collectible books do not include the following:
- Uncorrected proofs of in-print or not-yet-published books
- Former library books
- Remaindered books
- Book club edition
