Dr. Husnul Amin is an Associate Professor at the Department of Politics & International Relations & Executive Director of the Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRD), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). He has recently been awarded Fulbright Research Fellowship (2019-20). His research project concerning social movements studies is hosted by the Stockton University Galloway, NJ, USA. He received BS (Honors) and MSc (Economics) degrees from the School of Economics IIUI. In 2006, he was awarded foreign fellowship to pursue his PhD in Development Studies with further specialization in Political Sociology from the International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He was awarded post-doc fellowship supported by the DRS-COFUND Fellowship Progrm of Freie University Berlin and the European Commission, hosted by the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures & Societies (BGSMCS) during his research stay (2013-2014); availed fellowship at William & Mary, Virginia, USA (Jan 2014), and short term research stay at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, USA (Oct 2015). He has served as a Teaching Research Assistant (TRA) at International Institute of Social Studies (ISS); visiting faculty at Iqra Unviersity and National Defense University; Chairman IIUI Literary Society; Member board of Studies of Social Sciences and Politics & IR at IIUI; Chairman Steering Committee UNCW-IIUI linkage Program; Member National Curriculum Review Committee, International Relations, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan; and Head of the Department of Politics and International Relations, FSS, IIUI. He has been providing academic research supervision since 2010. Dr. Amin wrote columns in Urdu Daily Mashriq on social and cultural issues. His main areas of teaching and research are: Post-Islamism and Islamic Social Movements; Ethnicity, Migration, and Nationalism; International Political Economy; Religion and Politics in the Middle East; Politics of the Middle East; Advanced Research Methods; Public Policy Analysis; and Globalization & World Politics.
