Publishing Terms and Conditions
These Terms apply to authors submitting work through Get Books Publishing House and Academic Publishing. They work alongside our Seller Terms & Conditions — once your work is published, it becomes a marketplace listing and the Seller Terms apply to that listing. Where content overlaps, this document links to the relevant Seller Terms section rather than repeating it, so the two stay consistent as either one is updated.

PUBLISHING TERMS & CONDITIONS
These Publishing Terms & Conditions ("Publishing Terms") apply to authors who publish a book, thesis, research paper, monograph or journal through Get Books Publishing House or Get Books Academic Publishing, both operated by Get Books (SMC-Private) Limited ("Get Books", "we", "us").
They cover the publishing process itself: submission, review, formatting, registration of identifiers and royalties. Once your work is published, its listing on the Get Books Marketplace is also governed by our Seller Terms & Conditions. Where the two overlap, each refers to the other rather than repeating it.
1. What we publish
- Books: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children's books and other general titles.
- Thesis and dissertations: MPhil, PhD and other graduate research.
- Research papers and monographs.
- Journals and journal series.
2. Submission and review
2.1. Submitting a manuscript does not guarantee publication. We review each submission and may publish it, ask for revisions, or decline it.
2.2. Any timeline we give is an estimate. It depends on the length of the work, the revisions needed and how quickly you approve each stage.
2.3. You may withdraw your work at any time before publication. Fees for work already completed are not refundable.
3. Editing, formatting and design
3.1. We typeset the interior, lay out the pages and design or adapt the cover, as set out in your quotation.
3.2. We will not change the substance of your content without your consent.
3.3. You approve a final proof before anything is published. After you approve it, you are responsible for any errors that remain in the approved proof. Corrections requested after approval may be charged.
4. ISBN, ISSN and DOI
4.1. Where applicable, we register an ISBN for books, an ISSN for journals (through the National Library of Pakistan) and a DOI for academic works (through a Crossref member partner).
4.2. Registration costs are included in your Publishing Service Fee at cost, without mark-up.
4.3. Get Books is recorded as publisher for identifiers we register, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
5. Peer review
Get Books does not run an in-house peer-review board. We do not describe a work as peer-reviewed unless you provide evidence that it has been. We may suggest academic contacts for review, but this is not a guarantee of review or acceptance.
6. Ownership and rights
6.1. You keep your copyright. Publishing with us does not transfer ownership of your work.
6.2. Licence to publish. You grant Get Books a non-exclusive licence to format, register, print, publish, list, market and sell your work in print and digital formats, for as long as the work remains published with us.
6.3. Co-authors and prior publication. You confirm that all co-authors consent to publication, and that you hold the rights to republish any material previously published elsewhere, including figures, images and quotations.
6.4. Supervisor and institution approval. For theses and dissertations, you confirm that publication does not breach any rule of your university or any agreement with your supervisor or funder.
7. Fees
7.1. Publishing Service Fee. Publishing services are charged as a one-time Publishing Service Fee, shown in the quotation we send you. You confirm and pay the quotation online, or, for institutions, by signed and stamped acceptance followed by an online quotation.
7.2. No monthly subscription for published authors. Authors published through Get Books Publishing House or Academic Publishing are not charged a monthly or yearly seller platform fee for the listing of the work we publish. If you want the extra marketing included in a seller plan (such as homepage features, email campaigns or Meta ads), you may choose one of the plans on our Seller Center.
7.3. The Publishing Service Fee is not refundable once work on your manuscript has started, except where we fail to deliver the agreed services.

8.1. Made on Demand. Printed copies are produced only after a buyer pays online. Cash on delivery is not available for Made on Demand or digital-only works.
8.2. Printing and delivery. We coordinate printing, packing and delivery. Delivery charges are paid by the buyer.
9. Royalties
9.1. Made on Demand print. You set the sale price, which already includes the print cost. The sale price is split 22% to Get Books and 78% to you. For example, on a sale price of Rs 1,500, Get Books keeps Rs 330 and you receive Rs 1,170. We may set a minimum sale price so that it covers the print cost.
9.2. Digital sales. You receive [78%: confirm] of the digital sale price.
9.3. Print runs and stock. If you order a print run and sell from your own stock or our warehouse, the Self-ship or Warehouse commission in section 7 of the Seller Terms applies.
9.4. Payment. Royalties are paid on delivered orders, under the payout rules in section 11 of the Seller Terms: you choose your payout schedule, the minimum payout is Rs 3,000, and a sales report is sent with each payout.
10. Legal deposit
For each newly published printed book, we deposit two copies with the National Library of Pakistan on your behalf, as Pakistani law requires. The cost is included in your Publishing Service Fee.
11. After publication
11.1. Your published work is listed on the Get Books Marketplace and governed by the Seller Terms for listings, returns, payouts, taxes and privacy. Returns of Made on Demand books are accepted only for damage, printing defects or a work that differs from its description.
11.2. You may ask us to take down your work at any time by writing to seller-support@getbooks.com.pk. Orders already placed will still be fulfilled and paid.
11.3. We may decline, suspend or withdraw a work that breaches these Publishing Terms, infringes anyone's rights, or is the subject of a valid legal complaint.
12. Warranties and liability
12.1. You warrant that your work is original or that you hold all the rights needed to publish it, and that it does not defame anyone or break any law. You agree to cover our reasonable losses if a claim arises because this is not true.
12.2. We do not guarantee sales, citations, indexing in academic databases or readership.
12.3. Our liability, governing law (Pakistan) and dispute resolution (courts of Islamabad) follow sections 21 and 22 of the Seller Terms.
13. Changes to these Publishing Terms
We may update these Publishing Terms as the law and our services change. We will post the updated date at the top of this page. Changes do not affect quotations you have already accepted.
