Terms & Conditions

We’ve written these Terms in clear language, but they are still a legally binding agreement. If anything here feels unclear, reach out—we’re happy to help.

What these Terms cover

These Seller Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) explain how selling on the Get Books Marketplace (“Platform”) works worldwide for:

  • Authors and Publishers (print & digital books)
  • Booksellers and Resellers
  • Vendors of stationery, accessories, arts & craft, merchandise, workspace/office items
  • Any other seller category we approve from time to time

By creating a seller account, listing any products, or fulfilling orders on the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Key definitions (so we all mean the same thing)

“Seller” / “You”: any author, publisher, bookseller, brand, or vendor offering books or other permitted products on the Platform.

“Products”: any items you list, including digital content (eBooks, PDFs, downloads) and physical goods (books, stationery, accessories, etc.).

“Buyer”: a customer who purchases Products through the Platform.

“Order”: a purchase of Products made by a Buyer.

“Take Rate / Commission”: the marketplace fee we charge on each sale.

Your eligibility & seller account

3.1 Age & authority. You must be 18+ and legally able to enter a contract.

3.2 Truthful information. You must provide accurate business and contact information and keep it updated.

3.3 Verification (KYC). We may request identity verification, bank verification, or business/tax documents to meet compliance requirements and payment partner rules—standard for global marketplaces.

3.4 Account security. You’re responsible for activity under your account. Keep your password safe.

Marketplace role (who sells to the buyer?)

4.1 Get Books is a marketplace. We provide the platform, product discovery, checkout tools, and support systems.

4.2 You are the seller of record for your Products unless a written agreement states otherwise. That means you’re responsible for:

  • Product authenticity and quality
  • Accurate descriptions and pricing
  • Fulfillment and delivery
  • Handling returns/refunds as required
  • Compliance with laws that apply to your Products

4.3 Your contract is with the Buyer. A Buyer’s purchase creates a transaction between Buyer and Seller, with Get Books acting as the marketplace facilitator

Listings, descriptions & quality standards

5.1 Be accurate and honest. Listings must not be misleading—title, images, condition, edition, dimensions, materials, compatibility, origin, and what’s included must match what the Buyer receives. (Clear disclosure is a global e‑commerce expectation.)

5.2 Keep listings updated. If a product changes (new edition, different materials, different packaging), update your listing.

5.3 Quality expectations. Products that are consistently defective, misleading, or poor quality may be removed to protect marketplace trust.

Print‑on‑Demand Products

Certain products offered on the Get Books Marketplace may be produced using print‑on‑demand (“POD”) or made‑to‑order processes.

Where print‑on‑demand services are used:

  • Products are manufactured only after an order is placed
  • Minor variations in color, finish, materials, paper quality, binding, trim size, or packaging may occur due to the production process
  • Production and delivery timelines may differ from standard inventory items

The Seller remains solely responsible for:

  • Ownership, originality, and licensing of all text, artwork, designs, images, and other content used on print‑on‑demand products
  • Ensuring that all print‑on‑demand products comply with applicable copyright, trademark, intellectual property, and consumer protection laws
  • The accuracy of product descriptions, representations, and quality standards

Get Books acts solely as a marketplace facilitator and does not manufacture, design, inspect, or control print‑on‑demand products. Get Books makes no warranties regarding the manufacture, quality, durability, or fitness of print‑on‑demand items beyond those required by applicable law.

For print‑on‑demand books, minor variations in paper quality, binding, trim size, or cover finish may occur due to the production process.

Prohibited items & restricted activity

You must not list Products that are illegal or restricted, including (examples):

  • Counterfeit goods, pirated books, plagiarized content
  • Stolen items
  • Products that violate intellectual property rights
  • Malware, harmful files, or deceptive downloads

We may remove prohibited listings and suspend accounts to protect buyers and comply with legal/payment network requirements

Intellectual property (copyright, trademarks, designs)

7.1 You keep ownership. You own your content and brand. Uploading/listing does not transfer ownership.

7.2 You must have rights to sell. You promise you have all required rights for:

  • Book text, cover art, illustrations, images
  • Brand/trademark use in listings
  • Designs/artwork used in merchandise

7.3 License to operate the marketplace. You grant Get Books a non‑exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, market, and distribute your listings and (where applicable) your digital content—only for operating and promoting the Platform.

7.4 Copyright complaints / takedowns. If we receive a valid complaint, we may remove/disable the listing and request information from you. Repeated violations may lead to suspension.

Pakistan’s Copyright framework is based on the Copyright Ordinance, 1962 (as amended), and recognizes author ownership and licensing concepts

Plans, fees, commission & payment processing

8.1 Example: Startup Seller Plan

  • PKR 750 per month (paid annually)
  • 18% marketplace commission (take rate) per sale
  • 2.5% payment processing fee per sale (charged by payment providers/banks)

For details of pricing and plans, please visit seller center.

Marketplace Commission (Take‑Rate)

Get Books applies category‑based commissions on completed sales:

  • Creators (Authors, artists): 18%
  • Independent / Professional Sellers: 22%
  • Commercial Sellers: 25%

Payment processing fees (typically ~2–3%) are charged separately by payment providers. Commission details are published on the Pricing & Plans page and may be updated with notice.

How fees are applied

Fees are deducted from the transaction amount before payout. Marketplaces commonly use holds/reserves when necessary for refunds, disputes, chargebacks, or fraud checks

Pricing & currency

You set prices subject to platform rules (e.g., minimum pricing, prohibited price manipulation).

For global sales, we may show prices in multiple currencies. Exchange rates and intermediary bank fees may affect final settlement (standard for international commerce).

Payouts

9.1 Payout schedule. We pay sellers according to the payout schedule shown in your seller dashboard or plan page: [insert schedule here].

9.2 Minimum payout threshold. We may apply a minimum payout threshold to reduce transaction costs: [insert threshold].

9.3 Holds and deductions. We may temporarily hold or deduct payouts for:

  • refunds and returns
  • chargebacks and payment disputes
  • fraud investigations
  • compliance checks
This is standard practice for marketplaces

Taxes & compliance (Pakistan + global)

10.1 You handle your taxes. You are responsible for income tax, sales tax/VAT/GST, and any other taxes that apply to you.

10.2 Required reporting/withholding. If law requires us or payment partners to withhold taxes or report transactions, we will comply.

10.3 Pakistan e‑commerce requirements. Pakistan’s e‑commerce environment includes evolving seller registration and marketplace obligations (including FBR-related requirements for sellers on marketplaces).

10.4 Electronic contracting. Online transactions and electronic records/agreements are recognized in Pakistan under the Electronic Transactions framework.

Fulfillment (digital + physical)

11.1 Digital products

You must ensure digital files:

  • match the listing description
  • are functional and accessible
  • do not include malware or harmful code

11.2 Physical products (including books) — fulfillment models

Get Books supports multiple models. Drop shipping is encouraged, but you may use any model your business needs:

A) Drop Shipping (Encouraged): You/your printer/partner ships directly to the Buyer.

B) Conventional: You keep inventory and ship yourself.

C) Hybrid: Mix methods by product or region.

D) Dock/Third‑Party Fulfillment: A logistics partner fulfills on your behalf.

No matter the model, you are responsible for:

  • packaging quality and product condition
  • shipping timelines and handling time
  • providing tracking when possible
  • customs paperwork for international shipments (if applicable)

Returns, refunds & chargebacks (fair to buyers, fair to sellers)

12.1 Digital products: Typically not refundable after download/access, except where required by law or where the product is defective/misleading.

12.2 Physical products: Buyers may be entitled to refunds/returns for damaged items, wrong items, defects, or where local consumer law requires it.

12.3 Chargebacks: If a Buyer disputes a payment through their bank/payment provider, the disputed amount (and related fees) may be deducted from your payout.

Having clear refund/chargeback rules is a standard compliance and trust expectation for online marketplaces

12.4 Print‑on‑Demand (POD) Products

Some physical books and products sold on Get Books are produced using Print‑on‑Demand (POD). POD items are custom‑printed only after an order is placed and are not pre‑stocked.

Because of the custom nature of POD products:

a) No Returns for Change of Mind

POD products are not eligible for returns or refunds due to:

  • Change of mind
  • Incorrect size, format, or edition chosen by the Buyer
  • Personal preference or dissatisfaction not related to a defect

b) Eligible Refunds or Replacements (Limited Cases Only)

Refunds or replacements may be issued only if the POD product:

  • Arrives damaged
  • Has a printing defect (missing pages, unreadable print, binding failure)
  • Is materially different from the product description

In such cases, the Buyer may be required to:

  • Provide clear photographs or evidence
  • Report the issue within a reasonable time after delivery

c) Resolution Method

Depending on the situation, the Seller may:

  • Reprint and resend the product, or
  • Issue a partial or full refund

The chosen resolution should be fair, reasonable, and proportionate.

d) Shipping & Handling Errors

If an error occurs due to:

  • Incorrect files uploaded by the Seller
  • Incorrect product setup by the Seller

The Seller bears responsibility for resolving the issue.

If the error is clearly caused by a third‑party printer or logistics partner, the Seller should pursue resolution with that partner.

e) Legal Consumer Rights

Nothing in this POD policy limits mandatory consumer rights that apply under the Buyer’s local laws. Where the law requires a refund, the Platform and Seller will comply.

Seller conduct, customer support & service levels

13.1 Be responsive. Handle customer questions and issues in a reasonable timeframe.

13.2 No abuse. Harassment, scams, or manipulation of buyers, staff, or other sellers is not allowed.

13.3 Performance standards. Repeated late shipping, frequent complaints, or poor service may lead to listing limits or suspension.

Privacy & data (global)

15.1 What we collect. We collect and process data needed to run the marketplace (orders, payouts, fraud prevention, support).

15.2 Cross‑border data. Because we are global, data may be processed or stored in multiple countries for operational reasons, using appropriate safeguards.

15.3 No data selling. We do not use “selling personal data” as our business model.

Pakistan’s compliance landscape includes privacy and cybersecurity expectations under PECA and evolving data protection practices, and global marketplaces typically adopt privacy safeguards to build trust.

Marketing permission (reasonable and limited)

You allow us to use your store name, logo, and product images/descriptions to:

Display your listings on Get Books

Market the marketplace and your listings (social media, emails, ads)

You can request removal of marketing use for specific assets where feasible.

Suspension, termination & enforcement

We may suspend or terminate accounts if:

  • you sell prohibited items
  • you repeatedly infringe IP rights
  • you engage in fraud or harmful conduct
  • you repeatedly fail fulfillment/service expectations

If an account is terminated, we may withhold funds needed for refunds/chargebacks or legal compliance.

Warranties & indemnity

18.1 You promise your Products and listings comply with these Terms and applicable laws.

18.2 If Get Books faces claims because you violated these Terms (e.g., IP infringement, counterfeit claims, illegal goods), you agree to cover reasonable losses and costs related to that breach.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law:

  • Get Books is not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g., lost profits)
  • We aren’t responsible for courier delays, customs delays, bank delays, or exchange rate changes
  • We don’t guarantee piracy can be fully prevented, but we act on valid complaints

Governing law & disputes

20.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, except where mandatory consumer laws require otherwise.

20.2 We encourage resolving issues first through support and good‑faith communication.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as laws and the platform evolve. We’ll post an updated date. Continued use of the Platform means you accept the updated Terms.
